Service Technician

Responsible for utilizing automotive diagnostic procedures and experience to properly diagnose customer vehicle concerns by performing the following duties.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Inspects vehicle engines and mechanical and electrical components to diagnose issues per customer concerns.
  2. Develops an invoice that reflects all diagnosis and required repairs.
  3. Repairs or replaces broken or dysfunctional parts and repairs all issues per customer authorizations.
  4. Utilizes working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and diagnostic methods.
  5. Responsible for completing road tests and confirming all repairs have been completed to customer satisfaction.
  6. Returns vehicle clean and ready for guest pickup.
  7. Maintains equipment, tools, and shop equipment are in good condition and working order.
  8. Ensures work areas are kept clean and free of debris.
  9. Responsible for abiding by all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, and chemicals.
  10. Works effectively with all other technicians to maintain a safe working environment.
  11. Reports any issues directly to service advisor and manager.
  12. Responsible for the shop cleanliness, maintenance of shop tools, and inventory ordering.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, internet software, database, software, diagnostic tools, scanners, and computers.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

Vocational auto repair training

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
