Quality Tune-Up began in San Francisco area in 1976. We are a small operation with fewer than thirty shops in the Bay Area and the Central Valley. We feel being a smaller organization makes us more responsive to the individual franchisees needs.

Biography of existing Franchisee

The current Franchisee, Miguel Perez, of the Quality Tune­Up Shop #40 on Fruitridge Road has been in business at this location for 20 years. During this time Miguel has built a solid business with a large base of regular customers.

Miguel started delivering auto parts in 1986 in the Bay Area. Miguel discovered Quality Tune­Up shops by delivering parts to various shops. Miguel met Mario, the owner of the Quality Tune­Up shop located in Burlingame. Mario invited Miguel to come and work for him at the shop and offered to send Miguel to school for auto repair classes. He challenged Miguel that if Miguel passed all his classes, Mario would pay for those classes. Miguel successfully passed all his classes and became licensed as a SMOG Technician. Miguel then worked with Mario at the Burlingame shop for four years.

Mario purchased the Fruitridge Road shop in 1990 and invited Miguel to join the crew. Miguel moved his family from the Bay Area and worked with Mario at Fruitridge. Then in 1992, the current owner Mario moved onto other things and the Franchisor of Quality Tune­Up Shops asked Miguel to manage the shop. Miguel accepted the challenge and ran the shop for the next three years. Miguel raised the revenue at the shop from $20k/m to $50k/m. Through his hard work and dedication, Miguel won an award in 1994 for company "Manager of the Year".

In 1995, Miguel became the Franchisee at the shop and for the past 20 years has run the business as an owner. Miguel continued to enjoy success and raised the sales up to $80k/m. The shop became a true family affair, with his wife, daughter, and both sons working on and off at various times at the shop.

During the past 20 years Miguel has seen several changes in the State SMOG Program, and the evolving technology of automobiles, but through all these changes he always encouraged his staff to upgrade their technical skills, and focused on delivering consistent service.

The Fruitridge location has worked very well for Miguel. He has developed a loyal following of customers who continue to bring their vehicles to Miguel year after year for maintenance and repairs.

After a long and successful run in the business, Miguel has decided to retire, and as such would like to sell the shop to a buyer who will continue in his footsteps. Miguel is dedicated to helping the new buyer in every way possible and will stay on­board so that a smooth transition will take place.
